I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^
It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

well...that was fun. one week (actually it was sunday night, mon-thurs, and friday afternoon) away from home! i stayed up to 12 every night watching adult swim with my room mate. ok lessee...

sunday night: check into best western hotel, ate hamburgers and had fun at the arcade in downtown st.paul

monday: first day of class! didn't go on computers because we had to cut out magazines to make a cover that represented us. we did that pretty much the entire day. went to eat at famous daves, and then watched a comedy show.

tuesday: so tired, almost late for class >.< stupid family guy entertains me too much. anyway, finished covers and scanned into photoshop cs. played with it a little, then put text on it in adobe illustrator. after class, went shopping at the mall of america! havent been there in forever so i had fun.

wednesday: made logos in illustrator in class. then went to see batman begins! fine movie that is...

thursday: made cd covers for made up band called kid icarus and album called broken wings. kind of a dumb name for a band...kid icarus. wtf? anyway finished everything and went to valley fair. normally it would be fun. but it was 100 degrees...and i was wearing long pants. i almost killed myself ^^.

friday: printed all of our stuff on shiny paper and mounted on black tag board. graduated. went home. sleep.

in other news, i get to be knocked out on tuesday for my surgery!

O_O YAY they're knocking you out... er perhaps that didn't sound right, but of course I meant as in not being awake to see them scare the crap out of you while they work.

I had my surgery at the end of March on a Thursday which blew away the rest of my gosh-damned Spring Break. Awake 'til the operation room when they finally gassed me in there, I hadn't noticed because you don't exactly notice when you fade away. But prepare for lots of painkillers and ache afterwards! And scary weird nurses who might want to overdose you! O_O; Crap, I think I'm not helping much... sorry! >.<;; GOOD LUCK!!!! And come back safe... >.<;
